What is the Difference Between Goals and Outcomes?

A goal is a desired result or achievement. An outcome is the result of an action.

Goals and outcomes differ in what they represent and how they are achieved: goals represent what you want to achieve and outcomes represent what you have achieved; goals are achievable while outcomes may not necessarily be achievable; goals tend to focus on future possibilities while outcomes tend to focus on past accomplishments; goals require planning while outcomes do not; goals have a time limit while outcomes do not.
